Sip, Stamp, and Score: Davao’s ‘Kape ug Tsokolate’ Crawl Returns for a Grand 2026 Season

The 2026 Duaw Davao Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl is an expanded month-long event from June 1–30 where participants collect stamps from homegrown shops for a chance to win exclusive city prizes.

Davao City is inviting caffeine and cocoa lovers to clear their schedules as the highly anticipated Duaw Davao Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl officially returns this June. The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) released the 2026 guidelines on May 4, revealing an ambitious expansion that opens the event to even more homegrown shops than previous years. Running from June 1 to 30, the month-long crawl has evolved into a strategic centerpiece of the Duaw Davao festivities, designed to highlight the city's rich agricultural heritage while supporting local entrepreneurs. For tourists and locals alike, it is a curated "flavor map" that traces the evolution of Davao's coffee and chocolate industries through the city's most beloved neighborhood hangouts.

An Inclusive Growth for Local Brews

According to CTOO Officer-in-Charge Willenito P. Tormis Jr., the 2026 iteration is specifically engineered to be more inclusive, shifting the spotlight from a few select venues to a massive network of at least 50 establishments. This expansion aims to maximize the visibility of smaller, homegrown stores that represent the "authentic taste" of Davao’s various districts. To qualify for the crawl, businesses must be locally owned and offer at least five coffee or chocolate-based drinks that satisfy the "crawler" criteria. By opening the doors to a wider variety of shops, the city is ensuring that the economic benefits of the Duaw Davao festival are felt by a broader segment of the local business community.

    The Mechanics of the Crawl

Participating in the 2026 crawl is a straightforward ritual: patrons visit registered coffee and chocolate shops, purchase featured drinks, and collect stickers on their official crawl cards. Once a participant completes the required number of stamps, they can redeem an exclusive prize from the city government—a trophy of sorts for navigating the city's vast beverage landscape. Businesses interested in joining as official partners have until May 19, 2026, to submit their applications via the official Google form linked on the city's tourism portal. This deadline is crucial, as the executive committee will utilize a raffling system to select the final 50 shops from the pool of qualified applicants.

    Brewing Community and Culture

Beyond the stickers and prizes, the Kape ug Tsokolate Crawl serves a larger purpose: fostering a deep appreciation for Davao’s status as the Cacao Capital and a rising coffee powerhouse. The event encourages Dabawenyos to step out of their comfort zones and visit establishments they might otherwise overlook, reinforcing a sense of community pride. By centering the festival around the city’s natural resources—cacao and coffee beans—Davao is successfully merging agrotourism with urban lifestyle trends. As the June 1 launch date approaches, the crawl is set to become the ultimate social media-friendly adventure, proving once again that Davao’s flavor is best experienced one cup at a time.
